Theatre 3: Post Tournament Reflection

Discuss your performance at the Competition at NEHS.
What piece/area did you compete with/in?
How did you fare overall? Did you meet or exceed your expectations?
How could you improve your rank the next time?

Also: Give a tip or two to a teammate.

  1. I performed at North East High School this Saturday, and I was really nervous this competition because of how many great performers and performances there was. I performed the same piece
"The Women of Lockerbie" this competition and I felt very nervous at first, because I knew people had seen it. Overall, I felt okay with my performance, for my second round I went over time and I was disappointed with myself, because I knew that I would get points off or worse. I felt like I didn't exceed my expectations, because I knew I could have done better than what I did. I really wanted to break, and I knew that if I would have worked harder and focused on my time I could have had a chance. Next competition, I will work even harder and focus more on my time/intro. If I would have done all of those things, then I would have felt okay with how I did. Next competition, I will work harder to meet my expectations and will strive to break. I will definitely work on my time and characterization.

  2. I performed at North East High School on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018, and I was very confident about this competition because of how many times I performed my piece.
I performed my same piece, kind of,
"Letting Go" at competition, all I did was intertwine my poems from the last time i was at competition, and I felt like it was a great piece, because I had a few people look over it to make sure it flows. Overall, I felt great with my performance and my piece but according to two of my judges i have to work with pacing and the "action/movement" with my piece. For the next competition, I will work even harder and focus more on my time and movements. If I would have done these things, I could have broken. Next competition, I will work harder to meet my expectations and will strive to break. I will definitely work on my time and movements.

  3. I performed at North East High School, and I was honestly disappointed. I performed in HI and had ranks all over the place. With the female judges I placed 5th and 6th. Yet, I got 2nd in the second round with a male judge. I wasn't disappointed with myself, because I know that I performed at my best that day. Although, I am upset with the way I was judged considering that I was one of the most prepared people in all of my rooms. In my opinion, I don't think that the female judges appreciated my "Julia" impression and graded me on that. I at least made Yamoni blurt out laughing, because I was able to edit my piece so much, and make it into something much funnier and brilliant. So, next year, I plan on finding a piece that could please ALL judges. I will trash this one, because the turn out was not what I expected.

  4. My performance at the Northeast High School competition was good but it could have been better. The piece that I took to the competition was meanwhile back at the ranch. I competed in HI, which is humorous interp. Overall judging by the comments I felt that I have done good. Even though I didn't break, I still feel as though that I have grown. I didn't meet my expectations, because I didn't prepare as much as I should have. To improve my right next time I will take more time to prepare for the peace, and be Sharp.

    1. Tips for teammates, always be kind and courteous to others when they're performing and always think the judge for judging. take advantage of the time that you have to put your all into the piece that you want to break with.
