  1. For Lip Syncs, I was in Purple Rain. I was originally in Careless Whisper, but we cut it the night before, because it wasn't going to be ready by the show.

I feel that my performance in the show was good, but I could've done better. I could've added more enthusiasm to my performance, and I could've moved around more.

Something I could've done differently to get a better outcome, I could've actually planned my original song Careless Whisper more than I did. For example, I could've actually finished my storyboard, so that we actually could've got the timings ready, so we didn't get it cut.

    1. I was also in the song Careless Whisper but I think it was for the best that our song got cut though.Same I feel like I could have been more enthusiastic with my performance good use of the word instead of saying "oh I could have looked more interested" like I did....

    2. I agree 105% that it was for the best.

  3. I was in the performances of free falling by Tom Petty and thriller by Michael Jackson. They were kind of far apart so I had plenty of time to change which was nice.

My performance for free falling was good but it was also incredibly simple so there was little room for error. I really had to sit there and put my hand in the air dramatically. I do dramatic well. The only thing that wasn't planned was getting the pews off and on the stage. I was assigned to stay back stage to get the pew off when the song was over but then they didn't need me so I could have walked off stage at the end. In thriller I feel like I could have danced more passionately because I was completely drained by the time it came on. I thought overall it was good. One thing I would say was the sound went really weird and confused the people that were thrown into the show last minute. Though I was told it was just "difficult" it was not just that. Coach yelled at us about having things done and being ready and then throws random people who were to be taught the dance the day of the show. The last minute change was not okay and though it might have looked cool to the audience it was sloppy the day of the show.

I feel the improvement that could have been made was that there could have been more choreography and movement. I also think I could have been more anxious or nervous about the performance. I didn't ever start running around and freaking out like I think I was supposed to. I had my stuff together.

    1. I thought that the Thriller performance was good. That is a song that everyone has heard at some point in their life. Yes, There was a technical problem with the sound. I feel like everyone played it off with the dancing. So from the audience point of view it added to the effect of the general creepiness of the sketch.

    2. I think that with Thriller, with everyone being added so last minute, it turned out very well. Though, I believe that even though it looked good with all the extra people, it would have looked better with a smaller group.

  4. I was in In the Air Tonight and I was the director for Purple Rain. In the Air Tonight was a solo but it contained all of the cast members in the show. Purple Rain was a ensemble sketch containing half of the Theatre II.

I feel like I did average. Of course I was nervous because the song has so much meaning in the Theatre community. However, I was not as nervous as I was a year ago. I don't know if it was because I knew what I was doing or because of the support. Last year I would have been so nervous and found a excuse not to go but this year I was ready. I was able to complete it with out messing up and failing . Everyone was so encouraging and supportive.

To get a better outcome I could have found the final cut of Purple Rain weeks prior and get the music weeks prior to the actual show. The week leading up to the show was so stressful and hectic. Things constantly changed and was so fasted paced. I could have also listened to In the Air Tonight more so that it could have been more believable with the singing.

    1. I think you did really good on the solo in the very beginning. I know how hard it is to be the first person preforming and it was put on you last minute and you did everything you could to prepare. :)

    2. Thank you I appreciate it!

    3. I think you did so good on all of your pieces. I know you had to work on opening the show literally like 3 days before the show but you did amazing and purple reign honestly turned out great.

    4. I think you made and excellent director and you did an amazing job performing your solo.

  5. The song that I performed in was Purple Rain. The song that I was supposed to originally perform in at first plus Purple Rain was Careless Whispers. But unfortunately it got cut because there was not enough performance for the song we still had lots of song left. It was just bad in general because some people we had in out group only rehearsed with us like 2 times out of the 6 because they were in more than group. That's not an excuse though we just still didn't have a good concept for the song lots of ideas trying to collide into one and so many changes.

I know for a fact that I didn't perform so good in Purple Rain for rehearsals. Only because I just didn't seem that interested in it with my personal problems but at the end of the day that shouldn't have effected how I was acting and performing. I do feel though that I did much better at Lip Syncs, and got closer to the mic like I was asked to so many times before to do.....I wasn't that nervous though like I normally am only once I was bout to get on stage. It went away as soon as the song came on.

For Careless Whispers I feel that I could have done better with just letting loose and being comfortable dancing. Not rushing would be another thing, because I tend to rush into things when I feel uncomfortable. Or like when I was rehearsing in Purple Rain I tend to loose interest and not do my best. Basically I just need to fake it till I make it.

  6. For the Lip Sync Show, I was in the songs Free Falling and the finale Thriller. In Free Falling I was an old lady with a cane and I was sitting on the back church pew holding a cane and worshiping the Lord. I really tried to get into character by dressing appropriately and being kind of extra. In Thriller I brought a shirt that I didn't really care about and cut it up to make it look old and damaged and I wore ripped jeans. I also made my hair really messy and poofy and but black eye shadow around my eyes.

I think I preformed pretty well for Free Falling. It was a simple sketch and it was practiced many times so we made sure there were no errors. For Thriller, I think I did okay. It could have definitely been better but there were a lot of people involved and they learned the dance in very little time. The dance was simple and easy to learn so I don't think the dance was a huge problem but sometime around the voice over the music messed up and I think people got confused to when our cue to dance again was, but we stayed into character and tried to get back into sync as fast and as best as we could.

I think for Free Falling I could have made myself look more like an old lady by putting my hair all the way up into a bun and wore more of an old lady looking dress. I was originally going to wear a fat suit but I decided not to last minute. For Thriller I would do the second dance part better and maybe act more like a zombie. Like limp more and tilt my head to look creepier. Overall I think the show went as best as it could and it wasn't a bad show but it can always be better and when it comes to judging yourself and your own skit, you are your own worst critique. The audience didn't see all the flaws that we knew about so I'm hoping we did better than we thought

    1. You were a pretty extra old lady. I personally think that really added to it though.

    2. You did a great Job and I appreciate your help working even if you did bludgeon me with a 2 by 3 wooden platform

    3. I don't think that adding a bun would have changed it all that much. Also I feel like you were one of the only ones on the stage that knew what they were doing because you were the only other one that came to all the rehearsals.

  7. For the lip sync show, i was in 2 sketches. I was in "Purple Reign" by Prince and I was also in my own sketch "I will always love you" by Whitney Huston. I really tried to be the best i could with the character for my own sketch because that is mostly what i was getting graded on. I believe i did really well on it. I do not think i did terrible but i do not think i did amazing. For purple reign i believe i shouldn't have been up there because it was crowded and hot and we were bumping into each-other and everything and i really didn't know what to do cause i was thrown in last minute to do that part.
I believe i performed pretty decent. For I will always love you i believe i did really good besides i could have wore a longer dress so we could've done the picking up scene, but it all worked out in the end. I believe. In purple reign i could have put more enthusiasm into it and tried a little harder, but i got thrown into the part i was doing literally like 30 mins before the show and we couldn't practice it.
Overall i think i did a pretty decent job on all of my pieces. There was certainly a lot i could've worked on, but this was my first performance in front of a crowd, so i know how to prepare myself for next time and how to do things differently and act.

    1. In lip sync, you did really good specially playing the part you had. Whenever we were rehearsing, you listened to the whole group and what you could change to make it better. You could've invested a lot more time in Purple Rain but we all could've. I'm very proud of how I will always love you turned out. Our team worked very well together and that is what I think is the most important.

  8. For the Lip Sync Show I performed I will always love you by Whitney Houston, Purple Rain by Prince, and the second group of solos. In I will always love you I had the position of Whitney on the band stand singing for the lead singer. In Purple Rain I played a small role of a witness dress in a grandma purple dress. Last but not least I performed as a soloist, and my song I chose was She works hard for the money by Donna Summers. For this song I was suppose to dress like a witness but I had a few missing things from my outfit to achieve it.

I feel like I did well when I was on stage for all my performances. I wouldn't necessity say it was the best. I was confused through out the show when it came to me back stage preparing for the next thing up. But as for getting into character and not looking confused or tried I think I did pretty. well.

What I would have done differently was staying force, moving quickly, and being a little more prepared. Getting everything ready head of show also having a list was very important. Acting for Whitney Houston I could have had a little more movement and not so much with my hands doing the same thing. For Purple Rain could have been better based on timing wise, and acting a little more like a witness. Overall, for the out come of the whole show I felt it was great and enjoyable.

  9. In the Lip Sync Show I performed in both the ensemble Free Falling by Tom Petty and the skit Let's Dance by David Bowie. In Free Falling, I performed as a part of the band and played the guitar. In Let's Dance, I performed as one of the leads, David Bowie.

I feel in both skits I feel I performed about as good as I could have based on how prepared I was. In Free Falling I didn't have that big of a role, so "playing guitar" was not difficult to accomplish. In Let's Dance, I left everything I could out on the stage. We hit most of the cues, I engaged the audience as much as I could, and tried to perform as confidently as I could. Overall in my skit I believe I accomplished this task well, and I am proud of myself for pulling it together at the very end and still giving a great performance.

What I would improve upon does not have to do with my performance, but my preparation. Next time I need to certainly know who will be in my skit as soon as possible and always rehearse with my full cast if I can. Had I practiced more with my full cast rather than just my three leads most of the time, we could have maybe been better or tighter of a skit. I still believe we did very well, but it could have always been improved upon.

  10. For Lip Syncs 7, I was in Free Fallin' by Tom Petty, Let's Dance by David Bowie, and did Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham! as a solo piece.

I feel I performed relatively well in all three songs. My solo was essentially just me on stage dancing to WMUBYGG as I do in my room, which is always pretty energetic. My part in Free Fallin' was an old church lady, so that wasn't very hard to perfect. My part in Let's Dance was probably the most difficult to master. That being said, I still feel my performance for it in Lip Syncs was better than any rehearsal had ever been.

One thing I would do differently to improve my outcome is definitely work on Let's Dance harder. I would have rehearsed it more and not goofed off. Another thing I would do differently is to pay attention to the music during Let's Dance. While I didn't noticeably mess up on timing, I was a tad bit early on some parts and a tad bit late on others. Paying more attention to the lyrics would've helped that out.

    1. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go was amazing and I loved the energy you had for it. I know that it's one of your favorite songs which is probably why you did so well. I definitely feel like we should have paid more attention to lyrics when we were rehearsing instead of going with whatever felt right.

    2. Lets dance turned out alot better then I thought. I do agree that if it was worked on alittle more it would have turned out even better. Next lip sync make sure the people who are in it know a head of time know what to do.

  11. In the lip sync show, I was in Purple Rain, and I will always love you by Whitney Houston. In Purple Rain, I was one of the lead roles that ended up with the guy at the end which happened to be Frank. In I will always love you, I was the older version of Sarah.

I feel I performed, decent. I invested more of my time in I will always love you than in Purple Rain. When I invested my time in I will always love you I spent it criticizing the scenes with Frank and Sarah. I did this because I felt it was the most important part to really have the effect on the audience.

In order to change the outcome of lip sync, I should've invested more time in purple rain. I also should've focused on my character instead of everyone else in I will always love you. When I was in Purple Rain, I didn't make a real connection with Frank in order to make the audience react more. I also wish I pulled more hair back, because looking at the videos my mom took you couldn't see my face at all.

    1. Same, and I legit think I did better In Purple Rain. I didn't really see you acting because well I was doing my part so yeah tbh I thought you did pretty good.If it wasn't for you our show would have been wack.I do think you should of been more worried about your part then everybody elses though that would of really helped you and would have helped them in the future because they would problem solve their own problem instead of waiting for someone to solve them for them.

    2. To make a connection, rather than changing your acting while interacting with Frank, it would've also been important when introducing yourself to the audience. Instead of simply walking on stage, first express some sort of concern for Frank's depression that can be conveyed to the audience. Of course, take everything I say with a grain of salt, I'm no expert; and you did really well regardless.

  12. This lip sync year was far more eventful than the last one. I was in 5 sketches and each one I thoroughly enjoyed working on. Free Fallin' was the one I directed and it was nice to win an award for best 80s sketch which I did not expect to happen. I feel like the other 80s sketch I was in was far more deserving and crowd pleasing (I Will Always Love You). I was also in Purple Rain, even though I don't care for that song I had a great time working with all the people in the sketch. For the 70s I went up on the catwalk with Simmie to play the electric guitar solo for stairway to heaven. Honestly that was the most fun I have had doing highschool theatre. My least favorite part of the night was come as you are. It's just a bad sketch song and I have no idea why my group picked it.

ALLL IN ALL IT WAS A FUN NIGHT TO REMEMBER

    2. Honestly "I Will Always Love You" was an amazing concept. I feel like that was one that probably one of the most memorable performances simply because this is a military town and it can touch the hearts of many. It was well executed and put together.

  13. For Lipsyncs, my individual group's song was Let's Dance by David Bowie, and my ensemble sketch was Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. For Let's Dance I played a horrible dance fairy and for Free Fallin' I played an old church lady.

I feel I performed well in Free Fallin'. It was a fairly easy role and for most of it I was simply being told what to do. It was definitely the less challenging of the two characters I played. The horrible dance fairy role was, well, horrible, but not in the way we had intended. I played it awkwardly and uncomfortably, when it should have been a fun, lighthearted character. However, I did manage to make it slightly better between the first full cast rehearsal and the night of the show.

If I had a chance to do things differently, I would have been more involved. I would have came in with a plan and an attitude that we had to get to a preset goal at the end of the every single day. I would have put more input into the storyboard instead of nodding along to all of the ideas that Meghan came up with. I also would have made sure that we had all of our cast since the very first rehearsal instead of scrambling for people at the last second. I don't believe my skits this year were terrible, but I feel like I could have put more into them than I did.

    1. I agree also on my own reflection that we should have planned out exactly who was going to be in our skit, even the background people. Next time, whenever that may be, it would be a better idea to maybe not rely on another sketch's exit for actors and find our own as soon as possible.

  14. For the Lip sync show I was in Free Falling, by Tom Petty, Lets dance by Daivid Bowie, and Seven Spanish Angles by Ray Charles and Willie Nelson. In free falling I was one of the good girls who turned the bad boys good. In Lets dance I was one of the dancers. In Seven Spainish Angles I way Ray Charles.

I feel like I did well but could of did alot better. During Free Falling I did well, but I could have been a little more enthusiastic when comes to acting on the stage. For lets dance I kinda forgot what I was doing. So I started doing the same dance over and over again and I kinda looked very ackward.

I can improve on staying focus. Next time I will work on my sketch when I first get it and not sit arfound and waste time. I will make sure everyone in my group is on the same page. I will also make sure I rember all my places when its time for the show.

  15. For the Lip Sync show, I was apart of Free Falling by Tom Petty, Let's Dance by David Bowie, and Thriller by Michael Jackson. Free Falling was an ensemble piece that was directed by Frank. Let's Dance was a class group directed by Megan Hook. Thriller by Micheal Jackson was also a class group directed by Kaia Booker.

I feel like I did okay at the Lip Sync show. I could have out a little bit more acting in the pieces but I was happy with the out come. When I performed my character I could have acted like I was in a church more than just sitting there and praying. When I portrayed my character in Let's Dance I would have put my action in what I was doing. When I was playing a zombie I could been more dead and less emotional.

What I would have liked to do differently was defineintly work with my group more for Seven Spanish Angels by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles. I should have thrown out some suggestions for what we should have done as a group instead of just agreeing woth everybody. I need to making a name for myself in theatre and by doing that I need to start making sure that I am off my phone during rehearsals and start practing because practice makes perfect. I was hoping for Seven Spanish Angels ti be in the show but with my poor efforts of acting and doing what I was told it sadly did not.

  16. I was in I Will Always Love you by Whitney Huston and Purple Rain by Prince. When I was performing I Will Always Love You, I felt like I had a lot more I needed to do. I forgot to take the pictures and bring Frank the army jacket when I handed him the scroll.I think I messed up, because I didn't rehearse using the camera or the army jacket.Next time I need/will rehearse all the parts of the play instead of trying to remember them. For Purple Rain I felt I did what was expected of me,but there was moments when i hesitated to sing on my part.To do better I need to memorize when I need to sing.To do that I need to pay more attention to the actual words and my part.

  17. In the show I performed in three songs; Purple Rain, Let's Dance, and Free Fallin'. Careless Whisper was my group's song, but was cut and there was no performance. The problem with Careless Whisper started with the development process, and the lack of a storyboard due to irresponsibility. As a group of four, we should've had no problem completing ONE assignment. Also, there was a moment when I wasn't present and the story was "tweaked", so the next time we rehearsed was on Wednesday before the show, and I had no idea what I was doing. For that reason it was sloppy, and for lack of a better word, "careless."

I feel like I did reasonably well in my three performances, however. I wanted to be exaggerated and convey distinct characters, a gum-chewing greaser and a terrible, impersonal boyfriend. I think the audience understood who I was, which is important to the overall message of the story.

I have the power of hindsight now, though, and I fully understand how hard it is to be 100% deliberate when performing on a stage. When moving from one location to another, or standing in place, I forget that I'm still a character, and I act as if Nick Smith is up on the stage. It will be hard, but I feel like this is something that can be fixed with experience and practice.

  18. For the Lip Sync Show, I played in Free Falling by Tom Petty, and Thriller by Michael Jackson. I was part of the band in Free Falling, and in Thriller, I was one of the zombies.

In both skits, I feel that I did very well, even with the unexpected event. During Free Falling, My role wasn't that difficult to execute; All I was doing was playing a Keyboard, and occasionally lip syncing some of the lyrics. Although I was engaging myself as if I was a part of the band itself, I realized shortly after the song had started, I had began to pay more attention to a clothing malfunction than playing my role. However, I would brush it off as a scratch or a stretch of some sort, as to not draw attention to myself. If I could do it again, I would probably get another shawl to wear, or just get another dress.
I believe my performance in Thriller was exceptionally well. I didn't miss any steps like I had during practices, I was mostly in sync with my group, and I even had a back-up plan for if the music malfunctioned....the only problem? I didn't exactly share it with the rest of the group; Error number 1. Naturally, when the song began to skip around and stop, THAT'S when I tried to spread my plan: Keep going. Dance as if it's part of the plan, just don't stop dancing. Not only did only a few people hear me, but I had soon remembered that I was a big part of the next part, because of the beat I picked up, and count through afterwards to keep everyone in dance. There was no beat, so I couldn't do so. My solution? I picked a random point, and began counting a little louder. Yamoni picked up with it, and then a couple of others afterwards, and soon we were all back to where we were at. Luckily, when the song came back up, we were, again, where we were supposed to be, and we ended perfectly.

What I would definitely improve on has nothing to do with my performance, but rather, communication. However, I'm sure I wasn't the only one needing help with that. I should've at least tried to spread out my back-up plan to everyone. I feel that I would've helped my group out if I had told them. Even if I did, and they ignored me, I would've at least felt better, knowing that I tried.

  19. For my Lip Syncs performance, I was in Purple Rain. My character was a conflicted girl who is chasing the wrong man and gets her heart broken in the end. I was also a part of Careless Whisper before it was dumped.

One thing I did well in Purple Rain was stay in character. During rehearsals I would tend to get distracted or laugh because I was working with a lot of my friends in that sketch. I struggle to keep a straight face or stay serious sometimes, especially around certain people, so I think I did pretty well with staying in character during the actual show.I kept my facial expression sad, angry, or whatever other emotion was necessary at the time and only smiled or laughed when my character was supposed to be happy.

One mistake we made in Purple Rain was not rehearsing the ending very much. We did not really know exactly when to start walking off of the stage. We ended up exiting a little bit too late and the music was done playing when we were barely even half way down the isle. It resulted in some awkward clapping and humming to keep the beat going. From this experience I learned to take rehearsals more seriously and pay attention to what specific time certain things are supposed to be happening. I should also encourage the group to stay on task instead of getting distracted and laughing so that we can all know exactly what is supposed to be happening and when.

  21. In the lip sync show, I performed in Thriller, Purple Rain, Free Falling, Let's Dance and Weak. Being in multiple sketches was really great to do and I felt that it stretched me. I felt it better strengthen me as reformer I've been going from one ton of a song to another.
Watching the crowd all cheer and sing along was the goal and I felt that we reached that. But picking up myself I would have to say if I could do something better it would be moving full out. Having more energy would have definitely gotten more people involved. Preparation is the number one thing. Because during the night of the show one of our songs glitched and that was due to lack of preparation. The show was coming along as we perfected and tweet. During the first couple of days we didn't have much progress which set us back.
I felt I could have been more engaged with the groups. I could have done more to help make sure that we were organized. Now I can use things like lists to make sure that I'm doing so.
