For the next competition, I'd like to try two events that I haven't been in previously (because I haven't done anything except impromptu speaking.) I'd like to enter in Prose and Poetry.
For Prose, I'd like to take my failed DI for The Outsiders, by SE Hinton. It needs some (by some I mean a lot) work, but I think I can make it a good piece.
For poetry, I'd like to do a collection of poems about coming out. I'd really like to find some poems that relate to someone who is accepted, kind of accepted (as in their coming out was ignored) and then someone who was completely rejected. If I haven't run out of time, I'd also like to find a poem that involves the whole, "It gets better," thing, because it does. It does get better.
For the next competition, I plan on doing Duet Acting and Poetry. I've already done Duet Acting but Poetry is going to be new.
In Poetry, I plan on doing humorous poetry from the poetry book, Adultolescence, on modern day beauty standards.
For Duet Acting, I plan on taking a piece out of the play Miss Firecracker Contest. The scene is between Carnelle and Popeye, while Popeye is measuring her for her dress that she will wear in the competition.
A funny poetry piece is one that doesn't usually get brought up in comp. People usually go for the heart throb stories, but this makes yours unique. I can't wait to see you perform it and blow everyone away. Break a leg.
In the upcoming competition, I would like to perform in Humorous Interpretation and Duo Interpretation. I have never performed a decent duo piece, because my last partner was not in sync with me. By that, I mean she was new and wasn't as serious as I was about competition.
In Duo Interp, David and I will be performing, "Catch Me If You Can". It's a very good book which portrays a cat and mouse relationship between a FBI agent and a forger. This will be a challenge with transitions, but it will definitely pay off in the end.
In HI, I would like to perform a piece from the book, "Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie". It's a story about a 8th grader about to step into this new world called, "High School". I believe this would be a ton of fun trying to narrow down the memorization, seeing that there is at least 5 characters.
Like I said, I'm not doing this for fun or experience. I am doing this as a test. A test to see how good of an actor I truly am. This isn't a game anymore. It's a competition. In which I don't plan to come home empty handed. This is my goal. This is my dream. This will be my reality.
The two events I am considering are possibly a poetry piece and definitely my prose piece called "Go Ask Alice". I am considering doing a collection of R.M Drake poems that I would title "She", or I would do a collection of poems entitled "Sick" about illness.
I am for sure that I am going to perfect my prose piece. I am going to perfect my transitions and my voices.
For my poetry piece if I choose R.M Drake I will be starting from scratch. If I choose "Sick" I have a manuscript but not one that I am in love with so I will need to revise it.
For the competition on the 3rd of February, i will be performing a duet acting piece, with Yamoni, and my poetry from the last competition.
For duet acting, I'm doing "i can't think of it right now." by Nick Zagone. i read through it and it was a nice piece. i believe that Yamoni and i could do it.
For poetry, I'm going to take my collection of poems about letting go but I'm going to work out the kinks and make it work more smoothly.
I plan on competing in story telling with The Golden Goose. My other piece is going to either be a POI or poetry. Both of those would be a Shel Silverstein collection.

At the next competition at North East high school I will be going for DI and Duo Interpt.
DeleteI'm going for DI because I really enjoy. Also I've had good luck and good experiences.
I'm also doing Duo interpt because I have a good partner. Also I enjoy seeing other peoples performances and the verity of acts.
