  3. One idea for a sketch that would fun and energetic is to the song Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham! What I have in mind requires a male and a female dancing contain the popular dance moves of the time. The inspiration for this is from the music video where you can see energetic people dancing and having fun. One dance move that should be showcased is the Kid n' Play.

Another idea I have is to the song Lovergirl by Teena Marie. This idea would required a male and a few females. It would start with the guy talking to everyone and then one of the girls would use the song as a way to tell the guy how she feels about him. You would have the rest of the girls supported her and helping her out. This could definitely be improved based on other idea.

Those are the two songs that I have researched. I feel that both have great potential and could be fun to plan and perform for the show. Both could receive a positive reaction from the audience with a little editing and planing.

For my solo I have ideas for the songs by Natalie Cole called Can We Get Together Again and This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).

  4. For my individual piece i would like to do Shining Star by The Manhattans, because it was a great song in that time period and majority of the group is passed on so it would be a great tribute song.

For a group sketch we could do "End of the Line" by the Traveling Willburys. Because it would bring a WONDERFUL reaction from the audience.

  5. An idea that I have for a sketch is to the song It's Raining Men by the weather girls. My idea would need all the boys in our class and one of two girls in it as well. The problem is the shortage of boys in the class but it is okay because you do not need too many for this idea to work.

The sketch would begin with a female walking onto the stage alone with a raincoat on and maybe even an umbrella. When the introduction music ends then the lady should stop walking and start singing. As it plays the chorus, the girl should look around in satisfaction as men run around her with umbrellas and she should interact with all of them.

My second idea for a group sketch would be for the song Should I Stay or Should I Go by the clash. One of the original members died in 2002. There are two ideas that I thought for this song. My first idea would be a couple females and one of them is ranting to the others about her boyfriend by saying should I stay or should I go because she doesn't know. The second option could be a girl and a boy and the boy is trying to ask the girl what he should do. The main part of this would be the boy and girl arguing and then at the end the boy gets on his knees and finally begs the question one final time do I stay or do I go.

The song I want to audition for myself is Midnight Train to Georgia made in 1973 and one of the pips died.

  8. For the Lip Sync Show I would consider the 80s song " The best is yet to come" by Ella Fitzgerald. This is a love kind of song and I think I would be fun and we can throw some fun moments in it as well.

An idea I had for the sketch was two people a male and female. The male and female are in two different places like a split screen singing the song about their future relationship with each other. Then they go out and see each other start to blushing while singing the song face to face . The two start to dance a little and then disappear from the stage.

Another idea I had was a female singing about the male and the male not knowing who the female is. The female tried to get the male's attention but never did until the end when they somehow met looking at each other smiling fading to dark.

  10. One of the 80's songs I am considering for a sketch is Africa by Toto. In one sketch idea for that particular song, we could do it to where there are two main characters. One character is excited about his or her trip to Africa, and is excitedly sightseeing, though you get the feeling he or she feels like an outsider in the foreign country. Along the way he or she stumbles upon another similar sightseer. After they meet, they end up sticking together and sharing their trip together as friends. It would be a somewhat comedy skit that would show the bond of two friends over a shared interest.

Another idea for a sketch could be with the song Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap by AC/DC. It would be about a person that goes around trying to solve people's problems, saying for them to "give them a call". It would be an entertaining comedy skit based on the implications of the lyrics of the song.

  11. Of the "several" songs that I enjoy from the 70s a good band to showcase dead artists would be end of the line by The Travelling WIlbury's. It is a great tribute to a great band and people will enjoy it or at least I'll enjoy lip syncing it. My solo song that I think would be great is Money By pink floyd. It is a number one hit so it is known and Co-founder of Pink Floyd Syd Barret has passed.

  12. One idea for a sketch would be Your Love by The Outfield. The idea I was thinking about a male is playing a guitar and he's singing to Josie (the girl he sings about) and trying to stop her from leaving by telling her how he doesn't want to lose her love.

Another idea I have is the song Don't You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds. We would have a couple girls and boys (I mean we only have 3 males.). And they are all leaving and going there separate ways and they don't want to forget their friendship.

  13. I would like to do “Dont Fear the Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult for the solo spotlight piece. Allen Lanier died in the group and i believe he should be commemorated. We could have 4 people. 1 person is dressed as angels, 1 is dressed as a reaper, and 1 is just dressed in normal clothes. The person in normal clothes is dying and the reaper is coming to collect their soul when the angels show up to convince the person not to be afraid of the reaper.

For the group piece i would like to do “7 Spanish Angels” by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles. Ray Charles died in 2004 and i truly believe that is amazing man should be commemorated in lip sync battle. We would need at least 9 people in this skit. 7 are dressed as angels standing around an altar and a girl and a guy are standing together. They will be a cop or two that could be offstage we would just need the noise and a light. They would shoot the guy then later shoot the girl. When they die they would go offstage and come back on as angels.

  14. My first idea for the lip sync show is "It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls. There could be a few girls wearing rain coats and holding umbrellas and wearing cute rain boots. One of the girls could be scared of the rain so her umbrella is up and the other girls can help her kind of embrace the rain. Then they can all dance around and be confident girls. :)

Another idea is "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.." You could have girls in their Pj's and holding pillows and having a pillow fight on the stage and could be on the phone gossiping and all that fun stuff girls don't actually do but it's what people see when you think of this song.

  15. An 80's song that I am considering doing a sketch would be to the song Deja Vu Iv'ed been here before by Teena Marie. For this sketch I was thinking that the females can start singing and the they start to feel Deja Vu and they just continue to have fun and act like nothing is happening. For this sketch only some females should be involved with my idea. This would be a good song for a sketch because it can tell a story about acting like nothing is happening when something is really happening.

Another idea that I have for a group sketch is Soul man by The blues brothers. My idea for this sketch would be that all of the boys would just have fun and rock out. I picked this song because one of the members of the blues brothers John Belushi died.

The song that I would like to do for my solo spotlight would be The power of one by Donna Summer. I choose this song because this song has a very emotional to it and when I first look at the song it said pokemon. This song has so much emotion to it.

  16. An idea for the group piece I think is a good idea is I wanna dance with somebody by Whitney Houston. My idea for the song is that there will be 3 girls and one guy. One girl will be dancing alone while watching a guy and a girl dance. Their will also be a solo singer.

Another idea for a sketch can be Beat it by Michael Jackson. The song is entergetic and would be very fun and entresting to do. We could have one singer and a few people dancing in the background. Or we could have people pretending to box eachother.

The song I would like to do as my sketch is where do broken hearts go by Whitney Houston.

  17. One 80's song is by Ashford and Simpson they both passed. The song is called Solid. I feel like this would be a good song its upbeat most people should know this song. A sketch for this would be a couple one guy and one girl showing that their love for each other is "solid as a rock" that's its strong that no time soon will they break up.

For my solo I would do a song by Whitney Houston. The song is called How will I know. Its very energetic and not slow or sad.

Both these songs are from the 80's by artist who have past away. I feel like both songs would be a good addition to the lip sync show because there upbeat energetic and most people will know the song.

  19. I have two ideas for group sketches. The first song would be "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King. The second song would be Michael Jackson "Thriller". If we do "Thriller" we could reenact the music video that was such a big hit. And with "Stand By Me" we could have a group of friends sticking together through everything. However there could be added ideas to make it better.

For my individual piece I would like to do "Heard it Through the Grape Vine" by Marvin Gaye

  20. One song I think would make a good sketch is Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. He was known as the "King of pop" so I feel like he really needs at least one tribute sketch. Billie Jean is a song with a good pace for dancing which is just as important as the "singing" in the lip syncs show. For the sketch I imagine someone could play Michael Jackson and be singing and dancing the song while a crowd of fan-girls follow him around. The girls would be fainting and throwing themselves at him while he is totally uninterested in the girls because they are all "not his lover."

For my solo, I would like to audition Lovin' You by Minnie Riperton. The song was released in 1975 and Minnie passed away in 1979.

  21. "Faith" by George Michael is a widely popular and enjoyable song. I think some gimmick could be used to make the lip sync performance really interesting. Such as when he says "pick my heart up off the floor" someone could literally pick up a prop heart. Or we could have someone holding a cross while pursuing someone else. It could be pretty funny or pretty blasphemous, I don't know. Bu the song is really good in my opinion, and would make for a good performance.

For my solo audition, I am currently considering David Bowie's "Rock n' Roll Suicide." This song is so poetically beautiful in it's writing, and could be an emotional way to slow down the show a bit, but not too much. Also, I just really like this song.

RIP David Bowie and George Michael

  22. For a piece, I would really like to do "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off," by Jermaine Stewart. I would like to do this song because Jermaine Stewart has sadly passed away and the song sends a good message to other teens.

For my solo audition, I would like to do "Mercedes Benz," by Janis Joplin. Janis Joplin has sadly passed away, but she was wonderful and I loved her music.
