What do you think you need to improve on the most? (example)

  1. I wasn't satisfied and thought I could've done better with my audition performance, but I feel like my ability to stay in character was much improved from last year. For example, with Love Sick last year I was more of a kid who was monotone for most of the play, but I slowly picked up on little things and methods to get better. I applied those methods for this piece and I think it worked out how I wanted it to. For example, when I said "I think Socrates was right when he said that one of the first rules of knowing anyone is 'Know Thyself'." I felt those lines stood out and seemed more like Charlie Brown then I would've been able to do last year.

The thing I need to improve the most on is stage presence. I can work on by myself the ability to play and be my character, but the chance to work on stage presence requires other people to watch me. Thus, when I performed in front of the class for the first time in months, I didn't know who to talk to and I started to panic with my feet. As an example, we were supposed to stay very still throughout the monologue, but I was all over the place moving back and forth. Next time I'll know to stay still and work harder on my stage presence.

One step I'll take to improve my performance for the next audition is work harder on my character. If I can get even more rehearsing in, and reviewing what the character conveying through their feelings. Another step I'll take is reviewing my first audition. I can take the parts I liked from the audition and repeat them, and the parts I didn't like will be changed. This will give me the best chance to succeed for auditions.

  2. I know I didn't do my best for the play yet I know what I did well. I know I was one of the few people that did his work when Coach Silvers was gone. I know that I was able to stay in character for the entire part. I was able to deal with the creative criticism from people and change from it. Now for what I didn't do well with my play.

There is a lot that I could change about my performance piece. I know I walked around a lot but the way I walked was in a awkward way. I know I fumbled with my words a bit. I know that when I started I stuttered a bit and I messed with my hands a bit which was bad. I know what I did wrong which is good about it.

I need to improve on my confidence so I don't stutter. I can fix that by talking out to people more and getting out of my comfort zone. I know my movement wasn't the best when I walked around. I can fix that by thinking what coach told me about how to move and keep the audience fixed on me. I know I could have done better yet I had fun during this.

    1. Although you seemed nervous with your piece, and that you messed up a couple times. Rehearsal and practice infront of other people will help minimize your mistakes. I felt althought you paced around alot, the tone of your voice made your presence known, and that's a hard thing to do, so hats off for that. Otherwise, practice makes perfect, you'll only get better with time.

  3. I know that I could have done so much better on my audition performance in front of the class. However, I do feel like I grew more as an actor compared to me in Love Sick. I feel like that I put emotions on emphasis on the parts that need to be emphasized, for instance when I'm talking about the death of Donny, I feel like that was a good point I made.

The things I need to work on is enunciate my words better, and stay in character longer. I'm too much like Tristan in all my pieces. And I need to be the character, instead of being me. Enunciating my words better is just something that comes with time. It'll come eventually, just I feel like that day my performance could have done a bit better. alot better. For instance, I was naming off places in my monologue. and I could have pronounced those words alot better. And me changing my tone is just something that comes with time.

Next chance I have to audition, I need to spend more time being in character. and being able to just say all the words clearly. I would try to not rush through the end of my piece tying to compensate for my slow start in the beginning. I'd spend more time rehearsing, just trying to be the character, instead of being me. Those changes would help me get out of my comfort zone, and would give me the best changes for getting a role from an audition.

    1. A thing I would recommend is preparing your piece and how you're going to deal with each section of your monologue. For example, you mentioned how you didn't want to rush through the end just cause your first half was slow. Instead, shorten both the front and equally so you don't seem to rush. Also, try and forget you're Tristan. Become your character, which is done by understanding the character better.
