What have you learned so far in this project?
What steps must you take to ensure that you produce a quality and timely product?
The project i am working is the stairs with Kiavonnie and Kamil. We had to change a lot of measurements and changes to our design on the paper because 1) there was changes by coach,(no shade) or 2) we had to change them to make it actually fit and be able to make stairs. So far I've learned that not everything is going to be as perfect as you want it to be and your going to have to make adjustments eventually throughout the process. The steps we must take is not only we are going to build a some stairs, but we also have to build another set of stairs so we are going to have to move quickly and even spend some time after school working on our project to improve time and to improve more quality into our work. This is going to be a real challenge for our group because we haven't really talked about what we are going to do and we have a person that doesn't tell when she gets hurt,( again... no shade). But the overall view of us building the stairs is a very good view and i hope that view will be the same by friday.
Working along with you would make everything a bit easier because you know what your doing and there's somethings that I don't know how to do or I have an idea about what to do but i'm not very mastered at it. I know that you would help me to be successful in this project, so that I can be ready for the midterm.
I think it's a good thing coach made changes on your plan while it was still on paper because if you would've tried to build something you don't know how to do on paper it probably wouldn't come out right in real life. Also even the smallest measurements can change a whole project.
Me and my group are working on building a deck for our project. IN the beginning we had to make the plan. We had some flaws with the blueprint because at first we didn't draw to scale. Then we noticed that we had already had plans from another deck and used that as a reference for our new plan. In the new plan we used every 4 boxes on the graph paper is one foot. the bottom plate and top plate have a width of one and a half inches so knowing this the floor joists will have to be 5'9" in order to have the length 6 foot since it is 6 foot by 10 foot. Steps we can take to make sure our project come out perfect is to take our time when we cut and get correct measurements and also we should double check before we assemble.

I learned that everything won't be perfect as you want it to be. to improve are quality we are going to have to work quickly because we have to build two sets of stairs. The challenge is that we have to deal with the steps. But the overall view is that the stairs are looking very good.
My group is constructing a 9 foot by 8 foot stage right wall for our midterm project. This consists of utilizing six 7 foot 9 inch long two by two pieces of wood, two 8 foot long pieces of wood, two 3 foot 5 inch long pieces of wood, one 20 inch piece of wood,a 26 inch piece of wood, a 9 foot piece of wood,six pieces of wood varying in measurement, and lauan plywood. We will use the 8 foot long pieces of wood to construct the sides of the frame, the 9 foot long piece of wood will be our top plate of our frame, and the two pieces of 3 foot by 5 inch wood will be our bottom plates. The six 7 foot 9 inch long pieces of wood as our studs, which will be on 16 inch centers. Then the six varying pieces of wood will be used as braces between the studs for extra support. The reason these pieces are described as varying is because after we place the frame together we have to measure the actual space between the studs for the most accurate cut. We will then measure, mark, and cut the lauan to fit the frame. I have learned how to add braces to a wall and complete a correct drawing of our project to scale. To ensure that my project is of best quality I will follow the correct plans and pay attention to both small and big details.
I am in a group with Michael and Kiavonnie building the stairs. I was absent the day we started drawing out plan so I was very confused and lost, but as I started drawing my plan I started to understand the layout of the stairs. I believe if we follow the plans and use what we learned in class, we are sure to succeed in our project.
