  1. I feel that my leadership was much better than it could have been considering this was our first time directing by ourselves. In Fable Fest I had a partner to direct with me, but I had to direct this group alone. I felt like I was doing bad at first, but I made a group chat to contact all of my theater ones and plan rehearsals. Being a director became easier as communication became easier.

My group performed fairly well. The stage was not set correctly for their performance so they had to improvise and act around the set pieces. One of their challenges during rehearsal was staying in the light when they did the scenes. During the show, they did a lot better with staying out of the dark. Another challenge we faced was one group member not showing up. Luckily, we replaced her and continued pretty quickly, so that was not too big of a challenge. The replacement only had one day to rehearse with us but he learned fast and did his job. Overall, I was proud of their performance compared to their rehearsals.

Next time, I would communicate better with the quieter members of my group, regardless of the importance of their roll. I learned to be 100% positive on who is going to show up and who is not early on in the process so that we have more time to rehearse with replacements. Communication is key to being a good leader.

  3. The group that I led was the "I'll Be There For You".

I feel that I could have been a better leader. For Fablefest I was not directing anything because I was was overseeing the entire show. This I was overseeing the show and directing. So my patience ran out quicker than I expected.

I was not able to see my group completely because I had just gotten done with a theatre 4 sketch. I rushed to the theater to watch the second half and from what I saw the people who were there for all of the rehearsals understood what to do. The actions could have been more deliberate but I feel that as a whole they did great.

Again I had a long never-ending list to do. so I couldn't the best director. Something my group faced was people missing school and coming back to a new idea. we had to fill the spaces and I am not sure we did that completely.

Something that I would do differently is take time more serious. Being in theatre I should know that time runs out quickly but in the end we are rushing to get everything done.

  4. I lead the Why Can't we be Friends group. Considering that I was not initially their group leader I think I did a decent job at bringing their piece together.

One thing that I could have worked on a little more is being more authoritative instead of friendly, they needed someone to get on to them anytime they strayed off task and I didn't always do that.

I didn't get to see them perform but based on audience and group member feedback I assume they did well. The fact that I could not watch them because I was preparing for another scene upsets me but I thank them for taking initiative and getting work done even when I was busy.

    1. I think that you did great! You were a leader and picked up the slack for the other director.

  5. I led the 3rd period ensemble of "Just a Friend." I feel like for my first time with a large group I did okay. I realized that it is hard to keep control of all the attention. I did okay in that I got accomplished what I wanted to but I didn't get to clean it up and perfect it.

I was pleasantly surprised with my groups performance. They kept their composure and did what they were told. I was hoping that getting on stage they would perform and feel the need to bring characters to life but they did not. They rushed a little bit and the lights were a little off but that was mostly on me because I couldn't keep my group focused long enough to run through things enough times.

The first challenge that I faced was casting. I didn't want to assign roles because I am sensitive and don't like to hurt feelings. I eventually got over and the ones who got roles are the ones who showed me. Another challenge that they faced was having to be in two things and put their all into it. It was hard to explain to theatre ones that you can have two things going on and you still need to put your all into both.

    1. I really think that your ensemble was really really good. I think you could have made sure that everybody knew what to at each point and maybe had every person come out and sing during the chorus.

  6. The group that I lead performed Best Friend by 5 Seconds of Summer.
I feel that I lead my group as best that I could. Noting that I was sick twice, and missed rehearsals plus school time to go over our project. I still kept in touch with my group I texted my group asking how they did and what they have done. At the end of the day though it was up to them to pull everything together, and use what I gave them and told them and put something into works.

My group performed good but not great. When we did have rehearsal time either everyone was there and had to leave early, I could make it some couldn't or the other way around. So with that being said rehearsal was not good at all but they pulled it off when it came down to it. There was some stage position issues like with having a scene in the wrong spot so they ended up being in the dark. They could have done better though if they were really committed.

The challenges that I had was that since I was sick I could not lead my group as well as I would have liked. I over came that because as soon as I was able to come to school I made it a priority to come to stay after school. I stayed as much as I could and tried to convince coach if we could rehearse during class. My groups main struggle was paying attention not focusing and being serious when need to. They over came that the day of the actual play when they realized how serious it was. What I would do differently is be more serious with my group and pick people who are committed to working and doing good.

  7. The group that I led was "Thank you for being a friend" by Andrew Gold. I feel like my leadership was not very good because we never got through the whole thing until two days before the show. I feel like i could have done much better by being more strict and actually direct. I should nit have been lenient and let them act like goofballs when we should have been working.

I think my group preformed really really well. Even though we did not get to the very end of the sketch until a couple of days before the show. They still knew what to do once we got the hand of actually working. Instead of them asking me questions and messing around.

Challenges that I overcame was being strict and straight forward because I am not necessarily a mean person. Then, once I actually got a group to work with I got the chance to help out young actors and actresses in the making and help them grow. Challenges that my group have overcome is the fact that we got from nothing all the way to something. This was a challenge because on my behalf I slacked off a little bit so we kinda fell down but once we all started putting in hard work we started going somewhere with our sketch. What I would do differently next time is I would make sure that I get all of the hard work done that way we could get started earlier then we did this time around.

  8. I lead the performance "With a Help From My Friends" by The Beatles. I felt I didn't led my group the best I could have, but I felt I tried to keep things together as much so possible. I felt unsatisfied with the progress my group was making and as a director.

My group's performance was better than I thought it would be, but it still wasn't stage ready.I felt my group did pull it together up on stage. Because the rehearsals wasn't the best our outcome wasn't all that great either.

The challenges my group an I faced was focus. Most of the time my group would get off topic and it would be hard to get them to focus again. Often I would have to repeat myself. Another challenge we faced was not being consistent with our script. Little things would change over time causing my group getting confused.

If I could do this differently as a director I would take my leadership a little more serious. I felt it was a little off track. Staying in contact with my group could have been rearranged. Also, to not focus on little things so much.

  9. I lead the You're My Best friend-Queen group. I feel like the way I lead my group could have been much better. As a director, I begin to realize that I no longer have the right to complain about a situation when I’m put in a leadership role.

I didn’t get see my group perform but people said for not having the spikes they improved well enough. They had to improv a lot because the props were not in the right place when we went up. And that was partially my fault because I should have left early to make sure everything is in the right place

Some of the challenges I faced was keeping the peace in my group. But this I used this experience to teach them a lesson about how you say things and how it affects people in a negative way. What I would do differently is meeting my deadlines. Cause I realized once you don’t meet deadlines it throws off everything.

  10. The group that I lead was “A friend in me,” by Randy Newman.
I feel that my leadership was okay. I could've done way better and tried a little more harder and been a little more strict with the theatre ones. For it being my first time leading a group on my own it could've been worse, but it turned out better than I thought and i was so proud of my kids.

My group overall performed good. We had kids not show up and kids not know all their lines or place movements and that's not okay, but they pulled through in the end did better than anyone; even me expected. I had a lot in faith in them and knew they were nervous, but also knew they were gonna be okay.

Challenges that my group faced was listening and putting in effort. My group had people who would not do anything or even try and memorize their lines; we also had one person leave our group and had one new student get thrown in literally a week before the show and then not even show up opening night. My group was not the best, but with the little they had they made the most of it.

My challenges were trying not to loose it with all the disruptions an distractions going on. I could've been more strict and had everything more organized and had more faith in my kids, but now that i have experience i know what needs to be forsure done next time.

  11. The Group I led was "You got a friend" by James Taylor. I feel like I did not lead as well as I could of. I spent a lot of my time with me repeating things over and over again. I could have been a little more patient and gave them a little more guidenece than what I gave them.

My group performed well. Everyone in my group showed up and made it through. Some of them forgot what they were doing but they keep on going regardless. They did alot better than what I had expected for them to do.

My group faced many challenges. We did not get the chance to run it with lights so the lights threw them off. They had their timing OK but they did not leave the stage because the lights did not go down when needed to. My group did not really take rehearsals seriously so they did not do as well as they could of.

Next time I will make sure that I pick people who will actually work together in the group. I would do more of directing than yelling and trying to be their friends.
