Theatre 3: Competition

Discuss the two events you will be competing in in the upcoming competition.
   1) Who is your partner?
   2) What selection did you chose together and what is it about?
   3) What individual competition did you select, and what is your piece for it?

  1. My partner for competition is Vanessa Wilkes.

We choose Duet Interp. We are turning it into a storytelling piece. The name of our piece is called Tangled by Dan Fogelman. It comes from the disney movie Tangled.

The individual competition that I selected was storytelling. I am doing a piece called The Serpent's Tale by Leonid Andreyev.

  3. My partner is Lane Brumley. We are still deciding whether to do a Duo Interp or Duo Acting.

We are most likely going to do a scene from CrazyTown because we are in the play and that makes the most sense. Depending on what scene that we are doing depends on what comp that we are entering.

For my Solo I will be competing in Poetry. They piece that I decided that on is called Just Friends (The Situationship).

  4. My partner for competition is Francis.

I want to say we are doing Duo Acting but then again we might do Duo Interp we still haven't decided yet. Our piece for it though is called Asked Any Girl.

For my individual piece it is called Fourteen by Alice Gerstenberg. It is basically about a girl who is throwing a party, but is stressed about it and doesn't really want her friend to marry the guy she is about to marry.

  5. For our duet assignment, my partner was Sarah and she is going to be out of town during competition so I am going solo.

For my individual piece I have chosen poetry. I plan on combining two pieces called "Before I Read This Poem" and "Next to Nothing" by George David Miller. They both have themes of imperfection and self-consciousness. However, one is more humorous while the other is serious and dramatic, so it might take some work to fit them together poetically.

  6. My partner for the competition is Kaia.

For our duet Kaia and I are doing a piece from Love sick called " Where was I" by John Cariani. Its basically about two married females having a disagreement on each other presents in their marriage.

My solo piece is a interp between three characters. Its called " The Wedding Story" by Julianne Homokay. This is about a narrator trying to tell a false "fairy tale" to a group of children about a married couple, and the couple trying to tell the real story.

  7. My partner is Tatijhana. We are doing durt acting.

We are doing a scene from Love Sick. We are doing a scene about a lesbian couple who are arguing about the wife that works and the wife that stays home with the kids.

My solo piece is a dramatic interp from the book "Out Of My Mind" I chose this piece because I know it well. It is about a girl who has so much to say cannot say any of it.

  8. My partner for competition is Jada Smith.

We are doing the first firework by Alex Broun. It is about a mother who leaves the hospital to go to her bench on new year eve to see the fireworks.

My solo piece is a dramatic interp called the Care and feeding Of baby birds. I chose this because it takes me out of my comfort zone. It is about a girls who struggles with her own self and tries to take care of baby birds in the end she kills the birds.
